 8 محرم الحرام: کربلا کے حالات، صبر و استقامت کا عظیم درس

واقعۂ کربلا ان ایام کا سب سے عظیم اور سبق آموز واقعہ ہے، جس نے امتِ مسلمہ کو حق، صبر، استقامت اور دین کے لیے قربانی کا ایسا درس دیا جو قیامت تک یاد رکھا جائے گا۔ 8 محرم الحرام کا دن بھی کربلا کے واقعات میں ایک اہم مرحلہ تھا، کیونکہ اس وقت تک حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ اور آپ کے جانثار ساتھی شدید آزمائشوں کا سامنا کر رہے تھے اور حالات دن بدن مزید سخت ہوتے جا رہے تھے۔

حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ، رسول اللہ ﷺ کے نواسے، حضرت علی المرتضیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ اور حضرت فاطمۃ الزہراء رضی اللہ عنہا کے فرزند تھے۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ آپ سے بے پناہ محبت فرماتے تھے۔ صحیح احادیث میں آتا ہے کہ حضور اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا: "حسن اور حسین جنتی نوجوانوں کے سردار ہیں۔" اسی طرح آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "حسین مجھ سے ہے اور میں حسین سے ہوں۔" یہ فضائل اس بات کو واضح کرتے ہیں کہ حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ کو اسلام میں ایک عظیم مقام حاصل ہے۔

جب یزید کی بیعت کا مسئلہ پیش آیا تو حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے اجتہاد کے مطابق اس معاملے میں وہ موقف اختیار کیا جسے آپ حق سمجھتے تھے۔ بعد ازاں کوفہ سے آنے والے خطوط اور دعوتوں کے نتیجے میں آپ مکہ مکرمہ سے عراق کی طرف روانہ ہوئے۔ تاہم حالات نے ایسا رخ اختیار کیا کہ آپ کربلا کے میدان میں پہنچ گئے، جہاں آپ اور آپ کے اہلِ خانہ کو روک لیا گیا۔

مورخین کے مطابق 2 محرم 61 ہجری کو حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ کربلا پہنچے۔ اس کے بعد حالات بتدریج سخت ہوتے گئے۔ 7 محرم کو دریائے فرات سے پانی حاصل کرنے پر پابندی لگا دی گئی۔ اس پابندی کا اثر صرف مجاہدین پر ہی نہیں بلکہ خواتین اور بچوں پر بھی پڑا۔ 8 محرم الحرام تک پیاس کی شدت بڑھ چکی تھی اور خیمہ گاہِ حسینی میں موجود اہلِ بیت اور رفقاء سخت آزمائش سے گزر رہے تھے۔

8 محرم کا دن صبر و استقامت کا عظیم نمونہ تھا۔ شدید گرمی، پانی کی قلت اور دشمن کی بڑی تعداد کے باوجود حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ کے حوصلے میں کوئی کمی نہ آئی۔ آپ اپنے ساتھیوں کو اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا، صبر اور ثابت قدمی کی تلقین فرماتے رہے۔ آپ جانتے تھے کہ آنے والے دن مزید کٹھن ہوں گے، لیکن آپ کا یقین اللہ تعالیٰ کی ذات پر کامل تھا۔

اس موقع پر حضرت عباس بن علی رضی اللہ عنہ کی خدمات بھی قابلِ ذکر ہیں۔ آپ خیموں کے انتظام، اہلِ بیت کی حفاظت اور دیگر ضروری امور میں مصروف رہے۔ آپ کی شجاعت اور وفاداری تاریخِ اسلام کا روشن باب ہے۔ اگرچہ آپ کی شہادت 10 محرم کو ہوئی، لیکن 8 محرم تک بھی آپ مسلسل اہلِ بیت کی خدمت اور حفاظت میں مصروف تھے۔

کربلا کے حالات ہمیں یہ سبق دیتے ہیں کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے راستے میں آنے والی آزمائشوں پر صبر کرنا مؤمن کی شان ہے۔ قرآن کریم میں اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے:

"اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الصّٰبِرِيْنَ"

(بے شک اللہ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے۔)

حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ اور آپ کے ساتھیوں نے اس آیت کی عملی تفسیر پیش کی۔ پانی کی شدید قلت، تعداد میں کمی اور ظاہری اسباب کی کمزوری کے باوجود ان کے حوصلے بلند رہے اور انہوں نے اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا کو ہر چیز پر مقدم رکھا۔

اہلِ سنت والجماعت کے نزدیک واقعۂ کربلا ایک عظیم سانحہ ہے۔ حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ کی شہادت امتِ مسلمہ کے لیے ایک بہت بڑا غم ہے۔ امام اہلِ سنت حضرت امام احمد بن حنبل رحمہ اللہ، امام ابن کثیر رحمہ اللہ، امام ذہبی رحمہ اللہ اور دیگر اکابر علماء نے حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ کے فضائل، آپ کی عظمت اور آپ کی مظلومانہ شہادت کا ذکر بڑے احترام سے کیا ہے۔

8 محرم الحرام کے دن اگرچہ کوئی بڑی جنگ پیش نہیں آئی، لیکن یہ دن درحقیقت آنے والے عظیم امتحان کی تیاری کا دن تھا۔ خیموں میں موجود خواتین، بچے اور مرد سب جانتے تھے کہ حالات انتہائی نازک ہو چکے ہیں۔ اس کے باوجود ان کے دل اللہ تعالیٰ کی یاد سے معمور تھے۔ عبادت، دعا، تلاوتِ قرآن اور ذکرِ الٰہی کا سلسلہ جاری تھا۔

حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ کی زندگی کا سب سے نمایاں پہلو یہ ہے کہ آپ نے ہر حال میں حق اور انصاف کا ساتھ دیا۔ آپ نے دنیاوی مفادات کو دین کے اصولوں پر ترجیح نہیں دی۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ آپ کا نام آج بھی عزت، وقار اور استقامت کی علامت سمجھا جاتا ہے۔

8 محرم ہمیں یہ بھی سکھاتا ہے کہ مشکلات اور مصائب کے وقت اللہ تعالیٰ پر بھروسہ کرنا چاہیے۔ دنیا کی بڑی سے بڑی آزمائش بھی مؤمن کو اللہ تعالیٰ سے دور نہیں کرتی بلکہ اس کے ایمان اور یقین میں اضافہ کرتی ہے۔ حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ اور آپ کے رفقاء نے یہی طرزِ عمل اختیار کیا۔

اس دن کے واقعات سے ہمیں اتحادِ امت کا درس بھی ملتا ہے۔ اہلِ سنت والجماعت کا موقف یہ ہے کہ ہم تمام صحابۂ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم، اہلِ بیتِ اطہار رضی اللہ عنہم اور سلفِ صالحین سے محبت کرتے ہیں۔ واقعۂ کربلا کو نفرت اور تفرقے کا ذریعہ بنانے کے بجائے اسے صبر، تقویٰ، حق پسندی اور دین سے وابستگی کا سبق سمجھنا چاہیے۔

امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ کی یاد منانے کا بہترین طریقہ یہ ہے کہ ان کی سیرت کو اپنایا جائے۔ سچ بولنا، ظلم سے نفرت کرنا، نماز کی پابندی کرنا، قرآنِ کریم سے تعلق مضبوط کرنا، والدین کا احترام کرنا، غریبوں کی مدد کرنا اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا کو اپنی زندگی کا مقصد بنانا ہی درحقیقت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ سے محبت کا تقاضا ہے۔

امام ابن کثیر رحمہ اللہ نے "البدایہ والنہایہ" میں اور دیگر مؤرخین نے واقعۂ کربلا کو تفصیل سے بیان کیا ہے۔ ان روایات سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ نے ہر موقع پر صبر، حکمت اور اعلیٰ اخلاق کا مظاہرہ کیا۔ آپ نے دشمنوں کے ساتھ بھی اخلاق اور شرافت کا معاملہ فرمایا، جو آپ کے عظیم کردار کی دلیل ہے۔

8 محرم الحرام کا دن ہمیں یاد دلاتا ہے کہ حق کا راستہ ہمیشہ آسان نہیں ہوتا۔ بعض اوقات اس راہ میں قربانیاں دینا پڑتی ہیں، لیکن اللہ تعالیٰ کے نزدیک یہی قربانیاں انسان کو بلند درجات عطا کرتی ہیں۔ حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ اور ان کے وفادار ساتھیوں نے اسی حقیقت کو اپنے عمل سے ثابت کیا۔

اللہ تعالیٰ ہمیں حضرت امام حسین رضی اللہ عنہ، اہلِ بیتِ اطہار رضی اللہ عنہم اور صحابۂ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم کی سچی محبت نصیب فرمائے، ان کی سیرت پر عمل کرنے کی توفیق عطا فرمائے، اور ہمیں حق، صبر اور استقامت کے راستے پر قائم رکھے۔ آمین۔

8th Muharram: The Conditions in Karbala and the Lesson of Patience and Steadfastness

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and one of the most significant months in Islamic history. The first ten days of Muharram hold a special place in the hearts of Muslims because they are associated with the events of Karbala, one of the most moving and influential episodes in the history of Islam. Among these days, the 8th of Muharram represents a crucial stage in the unfolding events, as the hardships faced by Hazrat Imam Husayn (RA), his family, and his companions had become increasingly severe.

Hazrat Imam Husayn (RA) was the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the son of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA) and Hazrat Fatimah al-Zahra (RA). He was raised in the blessed household of the Prophet ﷺ and was loved dearly by him. Numerous authentic narrations testify to his virtue and noble status. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.” He also said, “Husayn is from me and I am from Husayn.” These statements clearly demonstrate the elevated rank of Imam Husayn (RA) in Islam.

The events that eventually led to Karbala began after the issue of allegiance to Yazid arose. Based on his understanding and judgment, Imam Husayn (RA) adopted a position that he believed was correct. At the same time, many people from Kufa sent letters inviting him to come and guide them. In response to these requests, he set out toward Iraq. However, circumstances changed dramatically, and he was ultimately stopped in the plain of Karbala.

Historical sources mention that Imam Husayn (RA) arrived in Karbala on the 2nd of Muharram in the year 61 AH. From that point onward, the situation became increasingly difficult. By the 7th of Muharram, access to the waters of the Euphrates River had been restricted. This restriction affected not only the men but also the women and children in the camp. By the 8th of Muharram, the effects of thirst had become more severe, creating a difficult and painful situation for everyone present.

Despite these hardships, Imam Husayn (RA) remained steadfast and patient. The 8th of Muharram stands as a powerful example of courage in the face of adversity. Surrounded by a much larger opposing force and deprived of easy access to water, he continued to place his trust in Allah. His faith remained firm, and he encouraged his companions to remain patient and devoted to the cause of truth.

The atmosphere in the camp of Imam Husayn (RA) was one of faith, worship, and reliance upon Allah. Rather than giving in to despair, the members of the Prophet’s family spent their time in prayer, supplication, remembrance of Allah, and recitation of the Qur’an. Their hearts were filled with certainty that whatever happened was by the will of Allah and that true success lies in pleasing Him.

Among the prominent figures present was Hazrat Abbas ibn Ali (RA), known for his loyalty, courage, and devotion. Even before the events of Ashura, he played a vital role in protecting the camp and serving the family of the Prophet ﷺ. His dedication and sense of responsibility were evident throughout these difficult days. The sacrifices he would later make became one of the most memorable aspects of the tragedy of Karbala.

The events of the 8th of Muharram teach Muslims an important lesson about patience. The Holy Qur’an repeatedly emphasizes the virtue of patience and steadfastness. Allah Almighty says:

“Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient.”

The people of Karbala demonstrated the practical meaning of this verse. Despite facing thirst, uncertainty, and overwhelming odds, they remained committed to their principles and continued to trust in Allah’s wisdom and mercy.

For Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (RA) is a great tragedy and a source of deep sorrow. Sunni scholars throughout history have spoken about his virtues, courage, and noble character with immense respect. His sacrifice remains a symbol of dedication to truth, justice, and faith.

The 8th of Muharram is significant because it represents the final days before the climactic events of Ashura. While no major battle took place on that day, the challenges facing the camp had intensified. The women, children, and companions all understood that the situation was becoming increasingly difficult. Yet they remained united in faith and determination.

One of the greatest lessons from Imam Husayn (RA) is that a believer should never compromise principles for worldly gain. Throughout his life, he exemplified honesty, integrity, courage, and devotion to Allah. His name continues to inspire Muslims around the world because he stood firmly upon what he believed to be right, regardless of the personal cost.

The events of Karbala also remind Muslims that worldly success is not the ultimate measure of victory. True success lies in obedience to Allah and sincerity in one's faith. The people of Karbala demonstrated that faith can remain strong even under the most difficult circumstances. Their patience and perseverance continue to serve as an example for future generations.

The 8th of Muharram further teaches the importance of unity and respect within the Muslim community. Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah love and honor all the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ and the members of his blessed family. The tragedy of Karbala should inspire Muslims to strengthen their commitment to justice, compassion, and mutual respect rather than becoming a cause of division and hatred.

Remembering Imam Husayn (RA) should motivate Muslims to adopt his noble qualities. Speaking the truth, standing against injustice, maintaining regular prayers, helping the needy, respecting parents, and remaining steadfast upon Islamic teachings are among the best ways to honor his legacy. Love for Imam Husayn (RA) is not merely expressed through words but through following the principles that he embodied.

Classical historians and scholars have preserved the events of Karbala in detail. Their accounts highlight the patience, wisdom, and noble conduct of Imam Husayn (RA). Even in the face of immense difficulty, he maintained the highest standards of character and dignity. His conduct serves as a timeless example of Islamic ethics and leadership.

The 8th of Muharram reminds us that the path of truth is often accompanied by trials and sacrifices. However, those who remain patient and sincere for the sake of Allah ultimately achieve success in the Hereafter. Imam Husayn (RA) and his companions demonstrated this reality through their unwavering faith and devotion.

Today, Muslims continue to draw inspiration from the events of Karbala. The lessons of patience, courage, sacrifice, and trust in Allah remain as relevant as ever. By studying these events with sincerity and balance, believers can strengthen their faith and learn valuable principles for navigating the challenges of life.

May Allah Almighty grant us sincere love for Hazrat Imam Husayn (RA), the Ahl al-Bayt, and all the noble Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. May He enable us to follow their righteous example, remain steadfast upon the truth, and unite the Muslim Ummah upon faith, justice, and mutual respect. Ameen.
