Soon after accepting Islam, Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (RA) received a great opportunity to demonstrate his abilities. In 8 AH, the Battle of Mu’tah took place, which is considered one of the most significant battles in Islamic history.

In this battle, the Muslim army consisted of approximately **three thousand soldiers**, while they faced the Byzantine forces and their allies, whose numbers were many times greater. 

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had appointed three commanders for this army:

• Hazrat Zayd bin Harithah (RA)
• Hazrat Ja‘far bin Abi Talib (RA)
• Hazrat Abdullah bin Rawahah (RA)

The Prophet ﷺ had instructed that if the first commander was martyred, the second should take command, and if the second was martyred, the third should lead the army.

During the battle, all three honored companions were martyred one after another. It was an extremely difficult moment for the Muslim army. At this critical stage, Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (RA) took responsibility for leadership and displayed his extraordinary military insight.

He skillfully reorganized the army formation and changed the positions of different groups of soldiers in such a way that the enemy believed fresh reinforcements had arrived for the Muslims. After the Battle of Mu’tah, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ praised Hazrat Khalid bin Walid’s (RA) bravery, wisdom, and successful leadership and said:

 خَالِدٌ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ سَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ  

Translation:

Khalid is one of the swords of Allah, which Allah has drawn against the disbelievers.

Because of this blessed statement of the Prophet ﷺ, Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (RA) received the honorable title:

Saifullah (The Sword of Allah)

The Death of Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (RA)

He passed away around21 AH in Homs (Syria).

At the time of his death, Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (RA) pointed toward his body and said that there was hardly any part of his body that did not carry the wounds of swords, spears, or arrows, yet he was passing away peacefully on his bed.

He then said:

فَلَا نَامَتْ أَعْيُنُ الْجُبَنَاءِ

Translation:

May the eyes of cowards never sleep.

These words were not an expression of pride or arrogance. Rather, they reflected the feelings of a great warrior who had spent his entire life striving in the path of Islam and had always made the honor of Allah’s religion his greatest purpose.

آپؓ کا تعلق قریش کے معزز اور بااثر قبیلے **بنو مخزوم** سے تھا، جو اپنی جنگی مہارت اور بہادری کے لیے مشہور تھا۔ زمانۂ جاہلیت میں بھی حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ بہترین گھڑسوار، ماہر سپہ سالار اور غیر معمولی جنگجو سمجھے جاتے تھے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے بعد میں انہی صلاحیتوں کو اسلام کی سربلندی اور مسلمانوں کے دفاع کا ذریعہ بنا دیا۔

اسلام قبول کرنے کا واقعہ

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی زندگی کا سب سے اہم موڑ وہ تھا جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کے دل کو اسلام کی روشنی سے منور فرمایا۔ ابتدائی دور میں آپؓ نے اسلام قبول نہیں کیا تھا، بلکہ غزوۂ اُحد میں قریش کی جانب سے شریک ہوئے تھے۔ تاہم وقت گزرنے کے ساتھ آپؓ نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کی سچائی، اسلام کی تیزی سے بڑھتی ہوئی قوت اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی نصرت کے واضح آثار پر گہرائی سے غور کیا۔

صلحِ حدیبیہ کے بعد یہ یقین مزید مضبوط ہوگیا کہ اسلام کو روکنا ممکن نہیں، کیونکہ یہ کسی انسان کا نہیں بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ کا دین ہے۔ یہی احساس آپؓ کے دل میں حق کی تلاش کا سبب بنا۔

آخرکار 8 ہجری میں حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ مدینہ منورہ حاضر ہوئے اور رسول اللہ ﷺ کے دستِ مبارک پر اسلام قبول کر لیا۔ اس موقع پر نبی کریم ﷺ نے ان کا خیر مقدم فرمایا اور اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کی کہ ان کی سابقہ لغزشوں کو معاف فرما دے۔

اسلام قبول کرنے کے بعد حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ نے اپنی پوری زندگی اللہ تعالیٰ اور اس کے رسول ﷺ کی اطاعت، اسلام کے دفاع اور مسلمانوں کی خدمت کے لیے وقف کر دی۔ وہی شخص جو کبھی اسلام کے مقابلے میں کھڑا تھا، بعد میں اسلام کے عظیم ترین سپہ سالاروں میں شمار ہونے لگا۔ یہی اسلام کی وہ عظیم خوبی ہے کہ سچی توبہ اور اخلاص کے ساتھ آنے والے کو عزت اور بلند مقام عطا کرتا ہے۔

 حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی نمایاں خصوصیات

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی شخصیت صرف جنگی مہارت تک محدود نہیں تھی بلکہ آپؓ بلند اخلاق، اخلاص اور عاجزی کا بھی بہترین نمونہ تھے۔ یہی خوبیاں انہیں ایک عظیم سپہ سالار کے ساتھ ایک مثالی مسلمان بھی بناتی ہیں۔

  غیر معمولی جنگی حکمتِ عملی

•   بے مثال شجاعت اور ثابت قدمی
•  اللہ تعالیٰ اور رسول اللہ ﷺ سے گہری محبت
•  اخلاص، عاجزی اور تقویٰ
•   مشکل ترین حالات میں بہترین قیادت کی صلاحیت
•   ہر حال میں اللہ تعالیٰ پر کامل بھروسہ

 غزوۂ مؤتہ اور حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی قیادت

اسلام قبول کرنے کے کچھ ہی عرصے بعد حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کو اپنی صلاحیتوں کے اظہار کا عظیم موقع ملا۔ 8 ہجری میں غزوۂ مؤتہ پیش آیا، جو اسلامی تاریخ کے اہم ترین معرکوں میں شمار ہوتا ہے۔ اس جنگ میں مسلمانوں کی تعداد تقریباً تین ہزار تھی، جبکہ مقابلے میں رومی سلطنت اور اس کے اتحادیوں کا لشکر تعداد میں کئی گنا زیادہ تھا۔

رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اس لشکر کے لیے پہلے ہی تین امیر مقرر فرمائے تھے:

1.   حضرت زید بن حارثہؓ
2.   حضرت جعفر بن ابی طالبؓ
3.   حضرت عبداللہ بن رواحہؓ

نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا تھا کہ اگر پہلے امیر شہید ہو جائیں تو دوسرا قیادت سنبھالے، پھر تیسرا۔ جنگ کے دوران تینوں جلیل القدر صحابہؓ یکے بعد دیگرے شہید ہوگئے۔ یہ مسلمانوں کے لیے نہایت آزمائش کا وقت تھا، مگر ایسے نازک مرحلے پر حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ نے قیادت سنبھالی اور اپنی غیر معمولی بصیرت کا مظاہرہ کیا۔

انہوں نے لشکر کی صف بندی میں حکمت کے ساتھ تبدیلی کی، مختلف دستوں کی جگہ تبدیل کی تاکہ دشمن کو یہ محسوس ہو کہ مسلمانوں کو تازہ کمک پہنچ گئی ہے۔ اس دانشمندانہ حکمتِ عملی کے نتیجے میں دشمن پسپا ہوا اور مسلمانوں کا لشکر بڑے نقصان سے محفوظ نکل آیا۔ اس واقعے نے حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی عسکری صلاحیتوں کو پوری امت کے سامنے نمایاں کر دیا۔

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کو  سیفُ اللہ  کا لقب کیسے ملا؟

غزوۂ مؤتہ کے بعد رسول اللہ ﷺ نے حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی بہادری، دانش مندی اور کامیاب قیادت کو سراہتے ہوئے فرمایا:

 خَالِدٌ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ سَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ 

  ترجمہ:  خالد اللہ کی تلواروں میں سے ایک تلوار ہیں، جسے اللہ تعالیٰ نے کفار پر مسلط فرمایا ہے۔ 

اسی ارشادِ نبوی ﷺ کی بنا پر حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کو **"سیفُ اللہ" (اللہ کی تلوار)** کا عظیم لقب ملا، جو قیامت تک ان کی پہچان بن گیا۔

  حضرت ابوبکر صدیقؓ کے دور میں خدمات

رسول اللہ ﷺ کے وصال کے بعد حضرت ابوبکر صدیقؓ کے دورِ خلافت میں اسلامی ریاست کو کئی بڑے چیلنجز کا سامنا کرنا پڑا۔ بعض قبائل نے ارتداد اختیار کر لیا، جبکہ کچھ نے زکوٰۃ ادا کرنے سے انکار کر دیا۔ ایسے نازک حالات میں حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ نے اپنی غیر معمولی قیادت اور ثابت قدمی سے اسلامی ریاست کے استحکام میں فیصلہ کن کردار ادا کیا۔

آپؓ نے  جنگِ ارتداد میں متعدد باغی قبائل کا مقابلہ کیا اور اللہ تعالیٰ کے فضل سے فتنوں کا خاتمہ کیا۔ ان کامیابیوں کے نتیجے میں اسلامی ریاست دوبارہ مضبوط ہوئی اور مسلمانوں کا اتحاد برقرار رہا۔

بعد ازاں حضرت ابوبکر صدیقؓ نے آپؓ کو عراق کے محاذ پر بھیجا، جہاں آپؓ نے کئی اہم علاقوں میں کامیابیاں حاصل کیں۔ ان فتوحات نے اسلامی ریاست کی سرحدوں کو وسعت دی اور اسلام کی دعوت نئے علاقوں تک پہنچنے کا راستہ ہموار کیا۔

 حضرت عمر فاروقؓ کے دور میں فتوحات

حضرت عمر فاروقؓ کے دورِ خلافت میں بھی حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ نے شام کے مختلف محاذوں پر مسلمانوں کی قیادت کی اور کئی تاریخی کامیابیاں حاصل کیں۔ ان کی جنگی حکمتِ عملی، فوری فیصلے کرنے کی صلاحیت اور غیر معمولی بہادری نے دشمن کے بڑے لشکروں کو بھی حیران کر دیا۔

بعد میں حضرت عمر فاروقؓ نے بعض انتظامی مصلحتوں کے تحت حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کو سپہ سالاری کے منصب سے الگ کر دیا۔ اس فیصلے کا مقصد یہ واضح کرنا تھا کہ فتوحات کسی ایک شخصیت کی وجہ سے نہیں بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی نصرت سے حاصل ہوتی ہیں۔

آپؓ نے اس فیصلے پر کسی قسم کا اعتراض نہیں کیا۔آپؓ نے نہایت عاجزی اور اطاعت کے ساتھ اسے قبول کیا اور ایک عام سپاہی کی حیثیت سے بھی اسی جذبے کے ساتھ اسلام کی خدمت جاری رکھی۔

یہ واقعہ ہمیں سکھاتا ہے کہ ایک سچا مسلمان منصب یا شہرت کا نہیں بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا کا طالب ہوتا ہے۔ حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی یہی عاجزی، اخلاص اور اطاعت انہیں تاریخ کے عظیم ترین سپہ سالاروں میں منفرد مقام عطا کرتی ہے۔

  جنگِ یرموک

جنگِ یرموک وہ تاریخی معرکہ تھا جس نے رومی سلطنت کی طاقت کو ہلا کر رکھ دیا اور اسلامی تاریخ میں ایک نئے دور کا آغاز کیا۔ اس عظیم فتح میں حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی حکمتِ عملی نے فیصلہ کن کردار ادا کیا۔حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی عسکری زندگی کی سب سے عظیم کامیابیوں میں  جنگِ یرموک  نمایاں مقام رکھتی ہے۔ یہ معرکہ اسلامی تاریخ کا ایک فیصلہ کن موڑ ثابت ہوا، جہاں مسلمانوں کا مقابلہ رومی سلطنت کے ایک بڑے اور منظم لشکر سے تھا۔ بظاہر حالات مسلمانوں کے حق میں نہیں تھے، لیکن ایمان، ثابت قدمی، بہترین منصوبہ بندی اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی مدد نے تاریخ کا رخ بدل دیا۔

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ نے میدانِ جنگ میں غیر معمولی حکمتِ عملی کا مظاہرہ کیا، فوج کو منظم رکھا اور ہر مرحلے پر بروقت فیصلے کیے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ کے فضل سے مسلمانوں کو ایسی عظیم فتح نصیب ہوئی جس نے شام میں اسلامی ریاست کو مضبوط بنیاد فراہم کی اور اسلام کے فروغ کے نئے دروازے کھول دیے۔

جنگِ یرموک آج بھی اس بات کی روشن مثال ہے کہ جب ایمان، اخلاص، تدبیر اور توکل ایک ساتھ جمع ہو جائیں تو بڑی سے بڑی طاقت بھی شکست کھا سکتی ہے۔

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کا کردار

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ صرف ایک عظیم سپہ سالار نہیں تھے بلکہ اعلیٰ کردار، عاجزی، اطاعت اور تقویٰ کے پیکر بھی تھے۔ بے شمار فتوحات کے باوجود آپؓ نے کبھی اپنی کامیابیوں پر غرور نہیں کیا، بلکہ ہر کامیابی کو اللہ تعالیٰ کا فضل قرار دیا۔

جب انہیں سپہ سالاری کے منصب سے ہٹایا گیا تو انہوں نے نہ شکوہ کیا، نہ ناراضی کا اظہار کیا اور نہ ہی اپنی خدمات کا سہارا لے کر کوئی مطالبہ کیا۔ اس کے برعکس، انہوں نے ایک عام سپاہی کی حیثیت سے بھی اسی جذبے کے ساتھ دینِ اسلام کی خدمت جاری رکھی۔

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی زندگی ہمیں یہ سبق دیتی ہے کہ اصل کامیابی منصب یا شہرت میں نہیں بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا، اخلاص اور ثابت قدمی میں ہے۔

  حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی وفات

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ نے اپنی پوری زندگی اسلام کی سربلندی کے لیے وقف کر دی۔ آپؓ نے بے شمار معرکوں میں شرکت کی، ہر میدان میں اپنی جان کو خطرے میں ڈالا اور اللہ تعالیٰ کے دین کے لیے بے مثال خدمات انجام دیں۔

تقریباً  21 ہجری  میں  حمص (شام)  میں آپؓ کا انتقال ہوا۔

وفات کے وقت آپؓ نے اپنے جسم کی طرف اشارہ کرتے ہوئے فرمایا کہ میرے جسم پر ایسا کوئی حصہ نہیں جہاں تلوار، نیزے یا تیر کا زخم نہ ہو، مگر آج میں اپنے بستر پر وفات پا رہا ہوں۔

 پھر آپؓ نے فرمایا:

 فَلَا نَامَتْ أَعْيُنُ الْجُبَنَاءِ 

 ترجمہ: بزدلوں کی آنکھیں کبھی نہ سوئیں۔ 

یہ الفاظ کسی تکبر کا اظہار نہیں تھے، بلکہ ایک ایسے مجاہد کے جذبات تھے جس نے اپنی پوری زندگی میدانِ جہاد میں گزاری اور ہمیشہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے دین کی سربلندی کو اپنا مقصد بنایا۔

 حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی زندگی سے حاصل ہونے والے اہم اسباق

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کی سیرت ہر دور کے مسلمانوں کے لیے رہنمائی کا خزانہ ہے۔ ان کی زندگی ہمیں بتاتی ہے  کہ کامیابی صرف صلاحیت سے نہیں بلکہ ایمان، اخلاص اور اللہ تعالیٰ پر کامل بھروسے سے حاصل ہوتی ہے۔

1. سچی توبہ انسان کی زندگی بدل دیتی ہے

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ نے اسلام قبول کرنے کے بعد اپنی تمام تر صلاحیتیں اللہ تعالیٰ کے دین کے لیے وقف کر دیں۔ ان کی زندگی اس حقیقت کی روشن مثال ہے کہ جب انسان اخلاص کے ساتھ اللہ تعالیٰ کی طرف رجوع کرتا ہے تو اس کا ماضی اس کی ترقی میں رکاوٹ نہیں بنتا۔

 2. اخلاص ہر کامیابی کی بنیاد ہے

آپؓ نے کبھی شہرت، منصب یا دنیاوی مفاد کو اپنا مقصد نہیں بنایا۔ ہر کامیابی کے بعد اللہ تعالیٰ کا شکر ادا کیا اور اپنی خدمات کو دینِ اسلام کی امانت سمجھا۔

3. اطاعت اور نظمِ جماعت کی اہمیت

حضرت عمر فاروقؓ کی جانب سے سپہ سالاری سے ہٹائے جانے کے باوجود آپؓ نے مکمل اطاعت اور صبر کا مظاہرہ کیا۔ اس سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ ایک مخلص مسلمان ذاتی خواہشات پر امت کے مفاد کو ترجیح دیتا ہے۔

4. اللہ تعالیٰ پر کامل توکل

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ بہترین منصوبہ بندی ضرور کرتے تھے، لیکن کامیابی کا اصل سہارا ہمیشہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی مدد اور نصرت کو سمجھتے تھے۔ یہی ایمان انہیں ہر مشکل میں ثابت قدم رکھتا تھا۔

 نتیجہ

حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ اسلامی تاریخ کے عظیم ترین سپہ سالاروں میں شمار ہوتے ہیں۔ ان کی شجاعت، حکمتِ عملی، اخلاص، عاجزی اور اللہ تعالیٰ پر غیر متزلزل بھروسہ آج بھی ہر مسلمان کے لیے مشعلِ راہ ہے۔

ان کی سیرت ہمیں یہ سبق دیتی ہے کہ اگر انسان اپنی صلاحیتوں کو اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا کے لیے وقف کر دے، حق پر ثابت قدم رہے اور ہر حال میں اخلاص کو اپنا شعار بنائے، تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے ایسی عزت عطا فرماتا ہے جو زمانوں تک باقی رہتی ہے۔
